Dominican 2018

Dominican Republic 2018

For over ten years we have been doing humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic where we have built homes, schools, worked with orphanages, sponsored children’s programs, worked with street kids, and much more.

Why Go?

This is a life altering experience that we believe everyone should do at least once in their lives. Participants will become part of a team that will see and experience, first hand, life the way much of the world actually lives it.  They will take part in helping families receive homes,  spend time with children in orphanages, villages, on the streets, and schools for sponsored children.  You will help with construction projects, child / youth events, and you will see the results of the sex trade and poverty on the lives of the local population.  Most importantly, you will learn how you personally can make a long term difference in the lives of others.

When Do We Go?

We travel to the Dominican the first week of May. Our trips take place this week so college / university students can take part without interrupting their summer jobs.

Each trip will be for 8 days, 7 Nights. The dates can change 1-3 days earlier or later due to flight availability, and will be confirmed by Jan 15th, 2017.

For Youth – WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL?

Lighthouse/Undercurrent Mission trips exist to give people the opportunity to serve others. Our goal is to provide an experience where you can learn how to become a person who is involved with making long term changes in the lives of the poor, neglected, and needy of our world. This is a great learning experience for all youth involved. Although you will be missing a week of school, students will have designated times in the evening to work on homework together. Leaders and staff will be available for any student needing help with their homework. Students will be encouraged to talk to their teachers and principals about work that will be covered during the trip.
